The Board of Commissioners, under the Annotated Code of Maryland, constitutes a body corporate. Under the corporate name they shall have perpetual succession and may pass and adopt all ordinances, resolutions
 or bylaws necessary or proper to exercise the powers granted under the
 Charter of the Town of Thurmont.

The Board of Commissioners conducts weekly town meetings at 7:00 p. m. on Monday evenings. Matters to be placed on the agenda must be received at the Town Office by 4:00 p. m. on the Friday preceding the Tuesday meeting.
 
The weekly town meetings are rebroadcast the following Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday evenings when other Commission meetings are being televised, the rebroadcast will begin after the scheduled meeting ends.

Workshop or Town Meeting?
You will notice that starting recently the Board of Commissioners has been alternating weekly meetings between Workshops and Town Meetings. Workshops are open to the public but no public comments are received, while Town Meetings are open to the public with public comment on issues being allowed. All residents are encouraged to attend the Monday night meetings, agendas are available on the Meeting Agendas page and also at the beginning of each meeting at the Town Meeting Room.
 For those who can not attend the Monday meetings, they are broadcast live on Cable Channel 99 starting at 7:00 p.m. and then rebroadcast on Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. and again at 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday evenings when the Planning & Zoning Commission meets the
Town Meeting rebroadcast will start at the conclusion of the P&Z Meeting.
