The Thurmont Food Bank
The Thurmont Food Bank needs your help! The current economic situation means more of Thurmont’s residents will need the valuable assistance provided by the Food Bank. With your help we can make sure that local children and their parents do not go to bed hungry or go without the basic necessities we all use every day.

Please help by making a donation of the following as well as other items:
Canned Vegetables, Baby Food, Spaghetti & Sauce, Hamburger Helper, Paper Towels, Bread or Rolls, Canned Meats, Hand Soap, Shampoo, Toilet Paper, Tooth Paste, Detergent, Nonperishable Food, Diapers, Household Cleaning Products.

Your donations of these items as well as cash is put to good use in our community.

***Watch For These Upcoming Food Bank Events***

On Saturday, May 10th the  Postal Service will be doing a food collection drive for the Thurmont Food Bank. This food drive is vitally important because it helps  provide food during summer months when donations are down.   All carriers within town limits have agreed to collect  food and some of the rural route carriers may also collect food. Please make a donation by putting canned or boxed food in a plastic bag and hanging it on your mail box. If your carrier is not participating you can  drop food off at the Thurmont Post Office Food  from May 5th- May 10th.

Gateway Market on North Franklinville Rd, just off of  Rt 15  has announced that it will hold a fund raiser for the Thurmont Food Bank. On May 18th the  proceeds from all the hand dipped ice cream will be donated to the Food  Bank. Go on over and enjoy a sweet treat while helping to feed those who are hungry.

The Special Events Commission organizes Halloween in the Park and the 50’s & 60’s Family Fun Day. If you would like to volunteer to help with either of these projects or if you have any questions aboput them please contact Commissioner Wayne Hoooper (whooper@thurmont.com).

Thurmont has a very active Economic Development Committee and with the help of the Town of Thurmont and local residents they organize Christmas in Thurmont, the Restaurant and Business Expo and the Farmers Market. Any questions about the events may be directed to Bill Blakeslee (bblakeselee@thurmontstaff.com), or Vickie Grinder, ThurmontFirst Main Street Manager (vickie@thurmontfirst.com).
