Elections to fill the two Board of Commissioners seats were held in Thurmont today. A total of 909 individuals cast votes including 15 absentee ballots.

Town Elections
There are two seats on the Board of Commissioners up for election this year.
Seven candidates were nominated for the two positions during the Nomination Convention
held on August 28, 2007 in the meeting room at the town office.

REGISTER TO VOTE!

You must be registered to vote in the town elections. Voters must be 18 years of age, a US citizen and a resident of Thurmont. Those currently registered for Town, County, State or Federal elections need not register. For those not currenlty registered, voter registration can be completed at the Town Offices at 10 Frederick Road by appearing in person and filling out an Application For Registration Of Voter. The town offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 4:00 pm. In addition to the regular office hours there will be two days with extended voter registration hours. On Monday September 10th
 and again on Wednesday Sept. 19th resident will have until 7:00 pm to register. The last day for voter registration will be September 21st. Those wishing to register for County, State and Federal elections
will be able to obtain a separate registration form from the town offices.
 Absentee Ballots:
 
Those wishing to vote by absentee ballot must submit an absentee ballot application form. This form is available at the town office or can be downloaded at the following link. APPLICATION FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT Open the form, print it and return the completed form in person or by mail to the town offices.
 Be sure to allow for mailing time when applying for an absentee ballot,
you will be sent a ballot upon receipt of your application.
 

Your completed ballot must then be received by close of business on October 1, 2007.

 Voter Registration, Absentee Ballots, or any other questions regarding the voting process.

2007 Nominating Convention

A standing room only crowd gathered at the town meeting room for the 2007 Nominating Convention. The Convention was opened by Mayor Burns, he then turned the podium over to Don Tyler who presided over the nomination process. There are two seats on the Board of Commissioners up for election this year. Glenn Muth is the sole incumbent and is now joined by six other contenders for the two open positions. After the nominations each candidate took the opportunity to speak to the gathering. It was announced that the Lions Club would once again be sponsoring a debate, the date and location to be announced.
