Notice of Public Hearing
Draft Thurmont Master Plan
and Comprehensive Rezoning

The Thurmont Board of Commissioners and the Thurmont Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a Joint public hearing on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Thurmont Town Office, 10 Frederick Road, Thurmont, Maryland to receive comments on the Board of Commissioners’ Draft Thurmont Master Plan. A snow date is scheduled for Monday, April 5, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the same location.

The Draft Thurmont Master Plan  represents an update of Thurmont’s 1998 Master Plan and includes Town-wide land use policies, a Land Use Plan Map, and a description of areas designated for future growth and annexation.  New plan elements include both a Water Resources Element and Municipal Growth Element. All properties within the Town may be subject to changes in the current land use plan designation and/or zoning during this update process.  The plan also includes a Comprehensive Zoning Map with proposed changes in zoning. The Board of Commissioners will consider adoption of the Plan following the public hearing.

The public will be given an opportunity to be heard at this public hearing. Comments will be limited to three (3) minutes per speaker.  Written comments must be received on or before March 22, 2010 and can either be mailed to the Town of Thurmont, 10 Frederick Road, PO Box 17, Thurmont, Maryland 21788, ATTN: Draft Master Plan; faxed to 301-271-2155; or emailed to : bblakeslee@thurmontstaf.com

Copies of the Draft Thurmont Master Plan and Draft Zoning Map are available for review at the Thurmont Town Office and at the Thurmont Regional Library (76 East Moser Road, Thurmont, MD).

2008 Master Plan Draft

The Draft Master Plan is now available for review.  Click the following links to download a copy of the plan.  The files is large (4mb) and can take several minutes to download depending on your connection speed.

Please note that although this is the version of the Master Plan approved by the P&Z on August 28, 2008 there are a few minor text changes and some mapping corrections being made to the Plan.  Once those are completed a notice will be sent to those on the maiking list and the final Master Plan and Maps will be available here.
