CYA Memorial Dedication

On Saturday, September 16, 2006 the CYA dedicated a flag pole and memorial to two local men who lost their lives
in the service of our country.
1St. Lt. Robert Seidel III
and
 Lcpl James W. Higgins, Jr.
had both been participants in the CYA program and it is in their honor that our flag now flies on the hillside overlooking the CYA field. The families, CYA officials, and local representatives gathered at center field along with the Marine Corps Honor Guard for the solemn ceremony. The program featured personal comments by CYA President James Angerett who spoke of the loss felt by our entire community by the passing of these young men. At the closing of the ceremony the flag was raised by Mike and Greg Campbell and Warren Zentz sang the “Star Spangled Banner”.

Photos of the dedication can be seen here.
