The Thurmont Econimic Development Committee is a group of local residents and business owners working to make Thurmont the best community in Maryland!

Thompson Signs Proclamation

Main Street Thurmont Proclamation

Frederick County Board of Commissioners President Lennie Thompson signs a proclamation of support for the effort to have Thurmont named a Main Street Maryland Community. The Commissioners voted unanimously in favor of lending their support to our application.

Pictured standing (l to R), John Kinnaird (TEDC Vice Chairman), Bill Blakeslee (Thurmont Commissioner), Vickie Grinder (TEDC Chairperson) and seated is Lennie Thompson, President of the Frederick County Commissioners signing the proclamation.

The Thurmont Restaurant and Business Expo 2005
The Economic Development Committee would like to thank all 70 businesses who participated
in our first Business Expo at the American Legion. In the course of the evening we counted
over 650 visitors, to call the evening a success would be an understatement! Although the
aisles were packed everyone had a great time and almost without exception asked
when the next Expo would be held. Needless to say we will be planning more.

Main Street Designation

We are working toward Thurmont being recognized as a “Main Street”
community. Main Street Maryland is a comprehensive downtown revitalization program that strives to strengthen the economic potential of Maryland's traditional main streets and neighborhoods. Using a competitive process, Main Street Maryland selects communities who have made a commitment to succeed, and helps them improve the economy, appearance and image of their traditional downtown business districts.
